Vimy Memorial 2022
On Sunday April 10th, ACLC BC Branch Director Michael Johnson placed a wreath for the 105th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. A small parade gathered at the Cross of Sacrifice at Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver. At the Mountain View Cemetery there is a section dedicated as a Commonwealth Grave Site where over 360 WW1 Veterans are interned. Every year over 350 Army Cadets from the Vancouver area normally parade at this site on the closest Sunday to April 9th to commemorate and honour those brave Canadians who gave so much for the freedom we enjoy today. For the past 2 years due to Covid19, the parade was kept very small, however this year, we were pleased to have a small number of Cadets participate.
Following the ceremony, the ACLC President-Cathy Bach presented our BC Branch Director Graeme Menzies with his ACLC Volunteer Service Medal. We thank you Graeme for your support and dedication to the Board and to the Army Cadet Program.
