ACLC BC BRANCH CHARLES WHISKER OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER AWARD 2021
This award was created in memory of Major Charles Whisker, CD. Charles was an active participant in the volunteer community, being a member of the 257 Royal Canadian Legion, Lodge 110 of the Masons, the Canadian Frontiersmen, and the St. John Ambulance. Charles proudly served as the Commanding Officer of the 2422 RCACC and later as the Area Cadet Liaison Officer for Vancouver Island. Major Whisker was such an active participant of the volunteer community and this award is for the dedication of a volunteer he proudly stood for.
After carefully reviewing the numerous applications received, the ACLC BC Branch Honours and Award Committee is pleased to announce Ms. Shelley Johnson-Gould, the chairperson for the 2943 RCACC is the recipient of the 2021 Major Charles Whisker Outstanding Volunteer Award.
Shelley has been volunteering with the 2943 RCACC since 2016. Through her strong leadership and initiative Shelley was able to rebuild the Corps Support Committee by increasing parent participation and raising sufficient funds. In addition, Shelley also took on the monumental task of seeking a new facility for the Corps. During the past two years in a COVID environment-Shelley kept active by ensuring communication was open between the Corps Commanding Officer, the Committee and the Branch. Shelley initiated a bottle drive/drop off which has raised thousands of dollars for the 2943 RCACC. Shelley has fully demonstrated the skills and abilities that prove her to be an excellent example for the Army Cadet Program and her community.
The ALCC Branch would like to congratulate Ms. Shelley Johnson-Gould for her dedication to the Army Cadet Program.
